THE BOWLING FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES IN-SCHOOL BOWLING EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

ARLINGTON, Texas - Sharlene Wilson, a middle school physical education teacher at Herndon Magnet School in Belcher, La., has been selected to receive The Bowling Foundations' Bowling Educator of the Year Award.

The national award is presented to the educator who has made an outstanding contribution by exposing youth to the sport through the In-School Bowling Program, a program administered through The Bowling Foundation. In-School Bowling is a program designed for physical education teachers to teach bowling to youth in their PE classes.

The Bowling Foundation provides a free bowling curriculum, how-to guide and instructional video to any teacher who wants to teach bowling. Students and teachers alike love to learn about this lifetime sport in their classroom, and many students take a field trip to a bowling center to see what bowling is all about. In the last three years, The Bowling Foundation has delivered more than 11,000 Bowler's Ed curriculums to 42 states.

"It is with great pleasure to award Sharlene Wilson with The Bowling Foundation's Educator of the Year Award," said Nancy Schenk, president of The Bowling Foundation. "Having dedicated individuals such as Ms. Wilson, who share the joys and benefits of bowling with today's youth, is an honor for the bowling industry. Bowling is a sport that, once learned, will last a lifetime. Ms. Wilson has done a wonderful job teaching students how to stay healthy through fun exercise such as bowling."

Wilson was introduced to bowling as a child, and continues her advocacy as a participant and teacher in the Caddo Parish School District. She teaches her students that bowling is a sport without gender or physical limitations, and bowling offers many benefits beyond middle school physical education.

"She teaches the fundamentals of the sport and the physical, social, and educational successes that accompany bowling participation," Melanie Warmke of Holiday Lanes in Bossier City, La., said of Wilson.

Wilson will be presented with the Bowling Educator of the Year Award at Bowl Expo in Las Vegas.

THE COUNTRY'S NUMBER ONE PARTICIPATION SPORTS ENCOURAGES KIDS TO PARTICPATE MORE FREQUENTLY AND WIN BIG

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Did you know bowling is the number one participation sport in the U.S.? An activity anyone can enjoy, bowling promotes valuable lessons like physical activity and teamwork to kids and now offers even more to our youth.  Through the new Defeat Kingpin program, practicing on the lanes could earn kids free bowling balls, iPod Touches, XBOX with Kinects, and even a trip to Walt Disney World!

HOLIDAY LANES brings bowling to life for kids, teaching the fundamentals through Bowlopolis, a fun, animated and interactive brand.  When kids visit the lanes to bowl, they will receive a Defeat Kingpin game card.  Using the code on the back of the game card, parents can help their child visit DefeatKingpin.com to capture one of the ten Pinions and help overthrow the Evil Kingpin.  With every code input at the site the child receives a prize certificate for free or discounted bowling to be redeemed at Holiday Lanes.  The child is also automatically entered for a chance to win bowling balls, XBOX with Kinects, iPod Touches and a trip to Walt Disney World.

During the promotion, kids can collect up to 10 game cards, one new card with each visit to the lanes.  Every time a child enters a code and captures a Pinion, they work their way up for a chance to win the greater prizes.  Only the kids who Defeat Kingpin by capturing all ten Pinions are eligible for the grand prize trip to Walt Disney World.

Bowlopolis brand manager Natasha Teague believes the program could have positive effects in several ways.  "With so much competition out there for our children's attention, 'Defeat Kingpin' has the potential to add to that ever-elusive 'family time' by incentivizing kids to stick with bowling, and therefore continue to spend their free time with mom and dad - and when they're at the bowling center they're staying active, which can be a tough sell in an over-saturated entertainment world."

Holiday Lanes is located at 3316 Old Minden Road, Bossier City, LA. To learn more about the Bowlopolis Defeat Kingpin promotion, stop by Holiday Lanes or visit www.defeatkingpin.com.

About Bowlopolis and the International Bowling Campus
Bowlopolis, a joint venture between the United States Bowling Congress and the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, helps kids learn the fundamentals of bowling in a fun way though animation and interactivity.  Bowlopolis is made available to bowling centers across the world to promote bowling to youth.  The International Bowling Campus (IBC) is the headquarters for the bowling industry and directly serves the more than 71 million bowlers in the United States. KIDS BOWL FREE NUMBERS ARE IN

Holiday Lanes is proud to announce the numbers for the Kids Bowl Free Summer Program. 7230 children signed up with Holiday Lanes to bowl free in the Summer of 2011. Among these children, Holiday Lanes provided a total of 22,392 free games of bowling, which is the equivalent of $89,568 paid games. That's a lot of bowling! The Kids Bowl Free program is designed by bowling centers to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure, and fun way for kids to spend time during the summer.

Bowling is a lifetime sport that provides children and adults with fun, fitness and a sense of community. Going bowling is a fun way to help get your recommended 60 minutes of exercise each day. Bowling two games can burn between 320 to 580 calories. In an effort to promote bowling as a lifetime sport and fitness activity, Holiday Lanes is committed to every student in Louisiana learning to bowl in P.E. class. For more information about Bowlers Education, visit http://bit.ly/schoolbowl

The next free bowling program, "Holiday Spirit", will be held during the holiday season in association with the Caddo and Bossier Parish School Boards. Free games will be given to students as an incentive to earn money for their school. Schools with the most students who bowl over the duration of the program will be awarded cash prizes for P.E. equipment.
